What's in Flax Seeds
Flax, like chia, is valued for fibre and ALA omega-3 fat.
- Whole seeds pass through largely undigested — grinding is what releases the oil and fibre.
- Ground flax goes rancid faster than whole, so grind small amounts as you need them.
- Keep it cool and sealed; the oil is what spoils.
In the kitchen: Grind and stir into pap, baking or smoothies. Two tablespoons a day is a common serving.
